Ari B, Boston’s new breakout artist, is releasing a new music video for her song, “By the Pool,” available on YouTube on August 16, 2016, and also releasing her latest single, “Up Up & Away” on iTunes on August 22, 2016. The new single and video follow the 17-year old pop singer’s March 16, 2016 debut single and music video, “Break the Ice”.
“By the Pool” was written by Ari B and produced by Ric Poulin at Bristol Studios in Boston, MA. The video, directed by Ray Kay (Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Britney Spears) and choreographed by Kenya Clay, captures the idea of surrounding yourself with the right people in your life. Shot on location in Malibu, the video is striking, with intricate dancing, fun, young, and fresh vibes at a pool party. It is apparent that not only can she sing, but Ari B’s dancing skills are unmatched by other female pop singers of her generation. Her astounding dedication to dance and storytelling make Ari B unique, and as she states, “I keep with the journey and support it with powerful dance movement”. She describes the set for her video as having “darker undertones, yet the party and energy in the dance come through”. Some of Ari B’s influences include MJ, Mariah Carey, Pink, and Janet Jackson; the elements of her music video demonstrate a cross between these influences and Ari’s own unique jazzed-up, hip hop style.
The Pop and R&B singer writes her own music saying, “I’m all about taking the listener through an experience that ends in different place from where it began. … When you write, sing, and move, you just gotta come from a natural place and feel whatever it is you’re creating.” “By the Pool” is about life experiences and “a girl who is struggling to carry on after an unhealthy relationship”.
Ari B is hoping that her fans will identify with her music and performances. She says, “ultimately, I do what I do to relate to people and some of their struggles. It is always reassuring to know you’re not alone.”
